Online Betting UK

onlinebettingWelcome to OnlineBetting.org.uk, your premier guide to the world of betting and gambling on the internet. Whatever your sport or game we are here to offer expert advice on where to place your bets, with recommendations and guidance based on a combined experience of over 40 years.

On the site we provide up to date and detailed reviews of all major UK bookmakers, as well as a handful of carefully selected online-only sportsbooks and casinos – all of which are licensed and regulated right here in the UK. As well as individual reviews, we have also written a number of guides which recommend bookies based on sport, bet types or offers so that you can find the best betting sites for your needs.

Whilst we prefer to give more detailed advice based on the features you’re looking for or sport you want to bet on, we also understand that some people just want a list of betting sites to try out for themselves. For this reason we’re kicking things off with a list of our favourite bookmakers.  For details of promotions for existing customers see our reviews or visit or betting offers page.

Betfred: Bet £10 Get £50 In Free Bets

It is fair to say Betfred and its founder Fred Done are the most experienced British bookmaker there is today.  They are still independent too, which is rare and a sign of how well they know their business.  They have been around since the late 1960’s and have seen every major sporting event since the 1966 World Cup.  Indeed, Fred and his brother Peter, placed a bet on England to win the 1966 World Cup and using those winnings set up their first betting shop.

Having seen it all before then it is no surprise that Betfred offer one of the best places to bet this summer.  The self-proclaimed ‘Bonus King’ has had its finger on the betting public for over 50 years and so it is no surprise to see they have come up with a cracking offer that deserves our welcome offer of the month slot.

The offer for new customers gives you £50 in Free Bets when you sign up, deposit and bet £10 or more at Evens+ odds – do this within a week of joining.  Then you can claim £30 in Sports Free Bets & £20 in Bet Builder Free Bets.  All the free bets are valid for one week.

New customers only. Register, deposit with Debit Card, and place first bet £10+ at Evens (2.0)+ on Sports within 7 days to get £30 in Sports Free Bets & £20 in Bet Builder Free Bets within 24 hours of settlement. 7-day expiry. Eligibility & payment exclusions apply. Full T&Cs apply

New Customer Enhanced Odds Offers & Free Bets

LBO sports iconIn addition to the standard welcome free bets and bonuses you can read about on this site, many betting sites also run enhanced odds and free bet event specific specials.

If you are planning on betting on a certain event, especially a high profile one (e.g Premier League, Cheltenham, Wimbledon, etc.), then you can sometimes find added value compared to the general welcome offer by taking a bespoke deal.

At OnlineBetting.org.uk we focus on the nuts and bolts of betting but we also have a sister offers site that carefully screens new and existing customer promotions for all sports and events worth knowing about.

From the World Cup to the Ryder Cup, Champions League to Royal Ascot, if you are looking for something for a given sport or event then head over and take a look.  We also list a wider range of betting sites if you would prefer to see a longer list of UK licensed operators.

What’s On & Upcoming Major Events

upcoming eventsBelow we list the major sporting events on now and upcoming to help you plan your betting.

Many bookies often give boosted odds and high value retention offers surrounding these feature events that can boost winnings or reduce loses for diligent punters.

It is often worth waiting until closer to an event start time to utilise the best prices, insurance offers, free bets, money back and other promotions available.  You can visit our sister site, featured in the section above, LatestBettingOffers, for event specific odds and deals for both new and existing customers.

FIFA World Cup
US/Canada/Mexico: 11th June - 19th July
World Cup betting

The 23rd World Cup takes place in the US, Canada, and Mexico, the first time the tournament has taken place across three different countries in the same competition. It is also the first time the competition has been extended to forty eight teams, so there is a stronger chance that home nations will take part. Matches are due to begin on the 11th of June.

Teams play three times in the group stage, once against each opponent in a round-robin. The top 2 then qualify for the new round of 32, along with the 8 best 3rd placed teams. This is a knockout round, leading to another knock out round of the final 16 teams, at which point the competition looks the same as it has done for decades, with a quarter, semi, and then final game to determine the winner.

With England reaching the semi-finals in 2018 and the final of Euro 2020 there was a high expectation last time around, but hopes are slightly more muted since they were knocked out in the quarter finals in 2022. There is no bigger event for bookies in a four-year cycle than the World Cup. It is so competitive that bookies push out their best promotions and odds, often loss-leading to get your custom. There is rarely a better time to sign up to bookies either as they run their most lucrative sign up deals at this time.

Tour De France
4 - 26 July
Tour de France

The annual multi-stage cycling race takes place over 21 days in France (mainly) and will cover a distance of over 2071 miles. Twenty-two teams will ride over the twenty-one stages starting on the 4th July and finishing in Paris at the Champs-Élysées on the 26th July.

The 2026 race will be the 113th edition with the grand depart due to be held in Barcelona, the first time that the tour has started in the Spanish city.  It will be the third time the tour has departed in Spain (Bilbao 2023 & San Sebastian 1992).

The 2022 & 2023 winner Jonas Vingegaard who finished second in the two years after is still one of the favourites for 2026 with Team Visma.  In 2025 Tadej Pogačar won his fourth tour, this time for Team UAE.  He became just the sixth rider in history to notch up 4+ tour wins.  It is difficult to bet against him and his team winning again in 2026.

Open Championship: Royal Portrush - 154th Year
16th -19th July
The Open Championship

Royal Birkdale is regarded as one of the best northern courses in golf, set on the north west coast of England in Southport it is a stunning links course that is very susceptible to changing conditions.  It is one of only four courses in England to host The Open ten times or more and it does so for the 11th time in 2026.

The course is regularly voted one of the top courses in the world and that is the reason it has been held there so often.  It hosted first in 1954, when Australian great Peter Thomson won his first Open, he went on to win five of them and the last one was also at Royal Birkdale in 1965.  Another five time winner, American Tom Watson, won his fifth Open here in 1983 too.  Other greats to have won here include two time champions Arnold Palmer (1961) and Pádraig Harrington (2008).  The last time it was held here American Jordan Spieth won with a commanding and dominant display to win his only Open and last major (of three) to date.

Founded in 1889 the course, unlike many others, has remained largely the same – testament to its great design.  The length was increased to 7,156 yards with a par 72.  It doesn’t feature many very long holes but it is known for having a lot of challenging par 3’s and 4’s in succession that can defeat golfers who can’t maintain laser focus.  The course favours golfers who are bold and brave, as shown by the people who have won here in the past, rather than technical golfers.  If you are looking for who to back then consider that – the winner last year Scottie Scheffler fits the bill perfectly and could go back-to-back.

One thing to note is no homegrown golfer has ever won here, Pádraig Harrington being the closest as an Irishman.  Maybe this is the year we finally see a winner from the home nations or more likely we won’t and it will continue to be dominated by those from abroad.

There are few dominant golfers this year you could bank on winning (other than Scheffler), but that can also be good as it makes the market more open with better odds for the leading pack. Whatever you bet on it is wise to wait until a few days before the start of the event to get the best prices and deals.

Darts World Matchplay
18-26 July 2026, Winter Gardens, Blackpool
Darts World Match Play

Generally seen as the biggest PDC darts event after the World Championship, the Matchplay tournament features 32 players (16 seeded and 16 from the ProTour Order of Merit) playing in a straight knock-out legs format over five rounds. The first round is best of 19 legs, second best of 21, quarter-finals best of 31, semi-finals best of 33 and the final best of 35 legs.

Despite the tournament first starting in 1994 there have only been 14 different winners, this is largely due to the fact Phill Taylor won the event 16 times between 1995 and 2017. Michael van Gerwen last won 2022, an event he has usually struggled in, by his own standards, with only three wins (2015, 2016 & 2022) from five final appearances. This may partly be due to the fact half of players are made up from the Pro Tour, meaning top players like van Gerwen have less experience against them.

Luke Littler won this in 2025 and many expect it is the first of many for the highly talented young World Champion. Being a leading televised PDC event the total prize pool is a very decent £800,000 with £200,000 to the winner.

Glorious Goodwood Festival
28th July - 1st August
Glorious Goodwood Festival

The Goodwood Festival dates all the way back to 1802, and the Goodwood Cup back to 1812; it is as much a part of classic British summer time as the Henley Regatta, Wimbledon or Royal Ascot. With no less than 35 races over four days, 13 of which are group races (3 group 1), along with two classic heritage-handicaps, this is one of the biggest racing meetings on the flat racing calendar.

The three group 1 races of the week dominate the card for the first three days: the two mile Goodwood Cup Stakes on day 1, the one mile Sussex Stakes on day 2 and the one mile two furlong Nassau Stakes on day 3. On day 4 you can see two big races, the one mile Golden Mile heritage-handicap and the group 2 sprint over 5 furlongs, the King George Stakes. The final day features the Stewards Cup, a 6 furlong heritage-handicap loved by the fans.

It is not all about the racing with Goodwood however, it is called Glorious because of the typically grand weather it receives set among the Sussex South Downs. Anyone wishing to experience the best of British summer could do far worse than visit the picturesque course.

About Our Online Betting Guide

online betting 2At OnlineBetting.org.uk we provide impartial betting advice whether you are a complete novice or you have been doing this for years. All guides and reviews are written by Matt (that’s me) and our in house team, or by carefully selected and vetted expert writers. We update our offers daily and we revise our reviews and guides regularly.

A little introduction to me, Matt. I have been betting for many years in all formats, I love all sports and games and as we all know there is no better way to get into an event than by having a cheeky flutter. Everything written on this site comes from first-hand experience and has been fully tried and tested by either myself or our team or our expert writers. I aim to guide you through all things betting from old school bookmaker’s shops to modern bookies that solely offer online betting tools. We assess the pros and cons of online vs betting shops, conventional desktop sites, mobile betting, payment options, offers/promotions, live betting and betting with streaming and more.

I am a diehard Liverpool FC fan and I truly love my football but I also like watching and going to, Horse racing, Dog racing, Cricket, Tennis, Darts, F1, Rugby, Golf, Snooker, Boxing and even the odd NFL game. If you watch a sport or game in my opinion it is worth placing a bet on it but given the wide range of choice and offers available in the world of online betting it is often hard to know who to bet with. In my own experiences I have made some mistakes but I have found a lot of gems that can make betting on events a lot more fun, and profitable.

Maybe you want to find the best bookmaker for betting on football for example, or you might want to know how to bet with cash online, who offers Cash Out, live streaming, who has the best mobile app or who provides the best live betting – whatever your query or question we have complied a comprehensive resource to online betting to help answer it.

Here we list good, established, UK licensed (by the Gambling Commission), reliable betting sites for punters and by having a good relationship with these companies in many cases we are able to offer you exclusive and one-off deals you cannot find direct with the bookmaker.  If you like what we do come back and visit us often and see what’s new, share the love too and tell your friends about us.
