Unlike with say a hotel or restaurant it can be much harder to spot the high end operators when it comes to online bookmaking. Depending on who you bet with payout limits, deposit maximums and withdrawal limits can vary from less than £1000 all the way up to £2,000,000 dependent on the betting site and market type.
Make sure you know where to find the best payout limits before you place your wager, not after. Whether you want to stake £100,000 on a single bet or you are placing £10 on a 5000/1 accumulator you want to make sure your payout isn’t capped and you will be able to withdraw funds as quickly as possible if you do win.

Bet365 - Best High Stakes Betting Site
If you want to bet big you have to go for a big company as these are the only ones with the resources to truly be able to pay out seven figure sums when needed. Of all the big players it is Bet365 that have the highest payout limits across a range of sports, followed closely in second by William Hill.
For high level football payouts will be guaranteed up to a staggering £2,000,000 (for high level men’s leagues, e.g. PL, La Liga, Champions League), for top level racing it is £1,000,000 (for UK and Irish racing where SP is declared), Golf, Tennis, NFL, NBA, MLB & NHL payout up to £500,000 at the top end and for most other major sports maximums are generally between £100,000 to £250,000 for the elite level major markets. They are not necessarily highest for every single sport but, on average and for the big two, footy and racing, they are the best. Bet365 also accept a lot of payment methods with both low and high limits to suit a range of punters, giving you more options on how to fund your account. Withdrawals are have limits per transaction but there are no overall withdrawal limits, so if you do have a big win there is no issue withdrawing it.

Highest Payouts and Winnings
It’s not just big bets that can end up hitting payout limits, smaller bets placed on lines with very high odds can very quickly approach these limits if you are not careful. Most betting sites should limit your stake amount if your potential winnings would hit this limit, don’t rely on this though, some sites are known to pay out up to the maximum limit then refund any extra stake. This is the last thing you want if you get a big win.
It is important to think about the sport and market you are betting on. Don’t just go by the headline maximum payout figure for all sports, in general this will be restricted to horse racing and football with most other sports having lower limits. Some minor sports, minor events within sports as well as exotic bets, novelty bets and specials can carry very low payout limits with some operators. It is worth thinking about placing big money wagers in this instance. The bet type also effects the payout limit, just because the match result market pays a £1M for example doesn’t mean an over/under bet on the same game will.
In the next section we summarise limits by bookie for major sports, for more information see our maximum payout and stake limits page to see a more detailed breakdown of payout limits by sport along with details about why and how payout maximums apply.

The examples here are from a leading bookmaker. The bookmaker is the best around for highest payout limits, deposits, withdrawals and winnings, our top online high stakes bookmaker. This gives you an idea of the highest possible payout limits by sport and market.
These amounts represent the maximum winnings within a 24-hour period on each market so keep this in mind if you have multiple bets setting on the same day:

- Horse Racing – £1,000,000 (UK and Ireland with industry SP declared), £250,000 (overseas with SP declared), £100,000 (all other)

We discuss individual bookmaker payout limits in our betting sites section.
Making Large Online Deposits
It can be surprisingly difficult to deposit large amounts in one go online, this isn’t because the bookies don’t want your money it is mainly because they are weary of fraud. It is also true that smaller bookies limit you because they are scared if you win to much but for the big players its more about security.
If you are planning on making a large deposit I would contact the bookmaker first and outline what you are planning to do. If they expect if they are less likely to block or limit the transaction. By contacting the bookmaker you can also sometimes arrange a higher deposit amounts than those listed for certain payment methods. If you’ve also never made a big deposit with that betting site it is likely that you will reach the second tier of verification. This is a limit (usually around £2000) that sets off an anti-fraud threshold, at this point you may need to send in additional documentation to prove you are who you say you are. You can read more about this in our ID and Verification article.
Online bookmakers either have a set overall limit or a variable limit depending on funding method. Some, for example, have deposit maximums as low as £3,000 for all methods, but most they will let you make as many deposits in a row as you like. In general most sites have variable limits by payment type. Bank transfer and debit cards have the highest limits in general, eWallets are usually lower and cash is generally restricted at a few thousand unless prior arrangement has been made. The deposit limit is usually per transaction, so you should be able to make multiple transactions at the maximum limit, again you will likely need to contact the site first though and let them know what you are doing.
I’m going to use a leading bookmaker as an example for maximum deposit limits by type as they are consistently the bookmaker with some of the highest limits around. Again you can make several deposits in a day if you like and there is no set overall maximum:
- Debit Cards – £20,000
- PayPal – £5,500
- Skrill – £25,000
- Neteller – £37,500
- Apple Pay – £5,000
- PaySafeCard – £770
- Bank Wire and Bank Transfer – £100,000
- Cheque – £50,000
For information about deposit limits for your bookie see our betting site reviews.
Making Large Online Withdrawals
Betting sites have very different rules and systems when I come to maximum withdrawal limits. Some sites have a flat limit but you can request as many withdrawals as your like. Some, for example set their max limit at say £5,000 but you can make several requests. Most operators have a set withdrawal limit by funding type within a 24-hour period. Some bookies have weekly or monthly limits, some. for example, restrict you to a maximum of say £100,000 in withdrawals in any 30 day period. Limits are all shown in the table at the top of this page.
We will use a leading bookmaker again as an example of maximum withdrawal limits. Default limits are the same as the deposit maximums outlined previously. Card transactions for example are limited at £20,000 but you can make as many withdrawal requests as you like with no defined maximum. If you would like to make a larger withdrawal you can contact them and make additional arrangements. If you try to make multiple maximum withdrawals without contacting them in advance you may be probably be blocked.
In general anyone going high stakes would stick with the bigger players to be sure to get the best withdrawal terms. I would recommend Bet365, William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral, Paddy Power and Betfred.
VIP Programmes
Many bookmakers do actually run VIP programmes for customers who play high stakes although many keep it quiet not wanting to alienate their bog standard punters. There are some great VIP programmes we do know about, here is our favourites that can add huge value to your bets and profits to your winnings over times if you play big stakes.
Coral Priority
Coral are an amazing bookmaker for rewarding existing customers in general but for anyone who deposits more than £1,000 a month there are additional VIP bonuses. Priority points are given out at 2 points for a £10 single and 3 points for a £10 multiple on sports. Points are also given out in the casino and can be earned in store using the Coral Connect card. The programme starts at bronze and moves up to platinum, here are some of the benefits:
- Bronze – £1,000 monthly deposits and 1,500 priority points to qualify. This gets you dedicated customer care, matched casino bonuses, exclusive promotions and higher stake back amounts for money back offers.
- Silver – £2,000 deposits and 2,500 priority points. This gives you the features listed in bronze plus further promotions, even higher refunds as well as hospitality prize draws and priority customer service.
- Gold – £4,000 and 12,500 points. At this tier you get everything that has come before with further hospitality invites, high stakes enhanced prices, monthly account reviews, gold level promotions and up to £250 stake back offers.
- Platinum – This tier is invite only but once you get to gold you should be a shoe in. Here we are basically looking at private account managers, exclusive hospitality (awesome when you consider who Coral sponsor), massive money back promos and the best enhanced odds and exclusive promos the bookie can muster.
Qualifying for VIP
If you are depositing and betting more than around £500 a month then you shouldn’t be sitting on a bog standard deal.
You can always drop your bookie an email to ask if they have any schemes and if you qualify. If they don’t I say high tail it out of there and sign up with one of the bookies above that will reward your high stakes loyalty.
